Newsletter 2/21

Dear Readers,

I am pleased to present you with the latest news and an exciting outlook for 2022!

In the course of the revision of the UN Minamata Convention on the Reduction of Mercury Emissions, the amalgam phase-out is moving into the focus of the next conference.

The African Region has again requested that the phase-out be included in the UN Convention and there are positive signals from the European Union, which is itself in the process of drafting a legislative proposal (by the end of 2022).

We will participate in the conference and hearings of the European Commission and advocate for environmental and health protection.

In Germany, we will also start a new attempt to revise the National Action Plan and have high hopes for the new German government to finally decide to phase out amalgam in 2025.

A Merry Christmas and thank you for your support

Florian Schulze
