Dear Readers,

Today, the European Council unanimously finalised the decision to phase out dental amalgam from January 2025.

The European Parliament had already given its approval on 10 April with a majority of 98%.

Following the signature by the Presidents of the European Parliament and the Council, the legal act will now be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and enter into force.
