Dear Readers,
COP6 of the Minamata Convention decided to phase out dental amalgam by 2034.
Proposals for a full phase-out of dental amalgam have been on the agenda for years, and we are delighted that we have been able to achieve this historic milestone step by step.
As most uses of mercury in products have already been banned, it became time to stop placing it in the mouth — especially since effective and affordable alternatives are available.
Our mission is now shifting from policy and advocacy to implementation and compliance. We believe that countries should not wait until 2034 to become mercury-free and start working on their phase out plans now.
Please read about the most recent developments, our activities to assist countries, and our updated trackers.
Yours sincerely,
Florian |
